Kings Have Agreement With ECHL Ontario Reign

The Los Angeles Kings and the new Ontario Reign of the ECHL have reached an official partnership and affiliation agreement, the two clubs announced today. The Reign are currently playing their inaugural season at Citizen?s Business Bank Arena in Ontario. As part of the new agreement, AEG, the parent company of the Kings, has acquired a majority interest in the Reign while Barry Kemp and his company will own a minority interest in the Reign and will continue to operate the ECHL team. In addition, the Kings and Reign have entered into an affiliation agreement which will provide for the Reign to serve as the Kings? official ECHL affiliate. As part of this affiliation relationship, the Kings will assign a limited number of players to the Reign?s roster and will also play an active role in overseeing the hockey operations of the team. The Kings currently have one contracted player, goaltender Jeff Zatkoff, on the Reign?s roster. The team?s head coach is Karl Taylor.

Kings Agree To Terms With Andrew Campbell

The Los Angeles Kings have agreed to terms on a three-year entry-level contract with defenseman Andrew Campbell, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today. Campbell was the club?s third round selection (74th overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. Per club policy, terms of the agreement were not announced. Campbell, 20, recently finished his first training camp with the Kings and he was assigned to the Manchester Monarchs, the Kings? American Hockey League affiliate, on September 29. Campbell, a 6-4, 196-pound native of Caledonia, Ontario, played with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) during the 2007-08 season. In 68 regular season games with the Greyhounds that year, he totaled 35 points (13-22=35) and 64 penalty minutes while posting a plus/minus rating of plus-20, good for fifth on the team. In addition, his 13 goals and 22 assists each ranked second among club blueliners in 2007-08 as did his 35 points and seven power play goals. Campbell also skated in all 14 postseason games for the Greyhounds, collecting five points (2-3=5), 13 penalty minutes and a team-leading plus-13 rating during the 2008 OHL playoffs. Campbell also played with Sault Ste. Marie during the 2006-07 season and he registered 18 points (4-14=18) and 75 penalty minutes in 63 regular season games that year. He also skated in an additional 13 postseason games while registering one point (0-1=1) and six penalty minutes during the 2007 OHL playoffs.

Rangers Agree To Terms With Tysen Dowzak

New York Rangers' President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the club has agreed to terms with defenseman Tysen Dowzak. Dowzak, 20, skated in 68 games with the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League (WHL) last season, registering 13 assists with 91 penalty minutes and a plus-29 rating. His 13 assists tied for third on the team among defensemen, while his plus-29 rating ranked second on the club. In seven post-season contests with Kelowna, Dowzak recorded one assist and 13 penalty minutes. In addition, he skated in five playoff games with the Texas Wildcatters of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL). The 6-5, 215-pounder has appeared in 166 career WHL matches with Kelowna, collecting four goals and 20 assists for 24 points, along with 227 penalty minutes. The Fergus Falls, Minnesota native established a career-high in goals scored with three goals during the 2006-07 season. He also tallied one assist and 29 penalty minutes in 15 career WHL playoff contests. Dowzak made his American Hockey League debut with the Hartford Wolf Pack on October 11, 2008.
